Bianca
The release went like a charm and approximately 50,000 people downloaded the ISO. We gathered very positive feedback on the forums from people who installed Bianca from the CD and people who upgraded to it from the Beta version or from Bea.
We would like to thank all the people who tested the Beta version of Bianca and filed bug reports on our forums. Thanks to their efforts we managed to fix important issues and bring a lot of improvements to some of our applications (namely mintdisk and mintmenu).
Worldwide Shipping and Web-Hosting
We are currently talking to a company based in the USA which will manufacture and ship Bianca for us. The CD will come in a DVD case with a user manual and ship worldwide for a total of $29.99 (shipping and taxes included). We're hoping to get this ready before the end of next week.
We also made a deal with nutime.de. The German company is starting a new service called mint-space.com. For a total of $25 Linux Mint users will be able to purchase a 1GB web space with PHP/Perl-CGI/MySQL, unlimited FTP/subdomains/emails (POP, IMAP, SMTP, Webmail). The offer will also come with a free domain name and we're hoping to get this ready before the end of next week.
Professional Support
The Linux Mint Support Center was opened: http://linuxmint.com/support/
While users can enjoy free community support through the forums and the IRC channel, the Linux Mint Support Center offers professional support. Members can chat live with developers when they are online and get all their questions answered by the development team through a system of tickets and messages.
As the number of post grows rapidly on the forums and our development team gets busier and busier, this is a service which brings members and developers closer to each others.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the Linux Mint Support Center you can purchase professional support from the Linux Mint Store: http://www.linuxmint.com/store/index.php?do=catalog&c=support
3 new packages in Romeo
Envy 0.8.2, mintmenu 1.10 and remastersys 1.1-1 made their way into Romeo.
MintMenu 1.10 received good feedback and will be backported to Bianca. Users will now be able to browse through the categories of the menu without having to click on them (they now react to the mouse passing over them).
Remastersys 1.1-1 needs 2 positive feedbacks, and Envy 0.8.2 needs 3 before they can make their way into the stable branch.
