Tux500
You probably heard about the Tux500 project: http://www.tux500.com
Some people accused it of being a scam: http://penguinpetes.com/b2evo/index.php?title=tux500_news_history&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1
We thought it was important you'd make your own mind on this so we recommend you read these:
- Article: http://www.indy500.com/news/story.php?story_id=8602
- Interview: http://osweekly.com/index.php?option=com_content&Itemid=&task=view&id=2541
As for us, we talked with the organizers of Tux500 and we decided to put their banner on http://www.linuxmint.com. This looks like a genuine effort to promote GNU/Linux to the World, it doesn't cost us much and we're happy to help.
Statistics
Lintelligence, one of our main mirrors, provided us with a new statistical tool and we are now able to count the exact number of downloads on their server. Figures are available since the 25th of April and on a daily basis:

Cassandra
- Development has begun on Cassandra. It is based on Bianca (Main Edition) and it uses Feisty's repositories. Three BETA have already been built. The development team is confident but the size of the ISO is still worrying them (896MB).
- MintMenu will remain the default Gnome menu.
- MintConfig might be replaced or complemented by the Gnome Control Center.
- MintDisk might be complemented by NTFS-Config which supports external drives.
- Mint3D was abandonned. 3D Effects will be provided by Compiz or Beryl on top of AIGLX (as done in Feisty).
- It is still unclear whether Cassandra will include a text-based installer and a mintArt theme.
