	LINUX MINT 13 RC MAYA CINNAMON FIRST LOOK Yesterday I took a look at the Gnome 2 style version of Linux Mint 13. The desktop environment was called MATE and today I am looking at the CINNAMON version. This is trying to be more Gnome 3 styled and it really does have a nice feel to it. 	Linux Mint Debian 201204 with the traditional and functional MATE 1.2 In this screencast, I take a look at LMDE with the MATE Desktop Environment. MATE is a fork of Gnome 2 done by the Linux Mint team.The latest MATE release 1.2 brings great stability, bug fixes and added functionality for the users. LMDE is based on Debian Testing and is a semi-rolling release. The LMDE comes with a good selection of software and out of the box media playing abilities which people have come to expect from the Linux Mint team. The MATE DE is steadily building its user base and founding new takers as the Salix guys also released their distro with it. The team is proud to announce the release of Linux Mint 13 “Maya” RC.

Available in two editions, Linux Mint 13 features the choice between a productive, stable and mature MATE 1.2 desktop and the brand new modern-looking and exciting Cinnamon 1.4. These two desktops are among the best available, they’re perfectly integrated within Linux Mint and represent great alternatives to Gnome 2 users. Linux Mint 13 is also an LTS (Long Term Support) release and it will be supported until April 2017.
