Celena BETA 021 is out!

Post by clem »

Hi,

The second BETA for Celena is out! Many thanks to all the people who tested the first one and posted about bugs. We've fixed many of them in BETA 021 and we hope you test it as well as you did the first BETA.

Thanks to whoever is seeding the torrent. I'm not suffering from usual "not enough seeders" syndrome like during the first hours of most Mint torrents. :D

Edit: Its gone from 150kbs to 20 :(

It's possible but there's no point to it. The point of the BETA release is for it to get tested by the community. There will however be upgrade paths from BETA 017 to stable and from BETA 012 to stable.

I've not experienced any bugs with Celena myself apart from not being able to open Hardware Information, but that was the case with Cassandra as well. I'm holding out for Daryna.

I just replaced Cassandra XFCE edition with the Celena beta 017 and it feels much snappier on my older laptop :D I think I'll wait for stable though.

Great beta

Post by madevan »

I had the dreaded WHITE screen when trying to use Beryl - nvidia card and GEFORCE graphics card - but the ENVY fix and installation of the new driver worked a treat.

Waiting for 3.1 proper now. I want to relegate my Windows to back seat and enjoy Linux at last!

Great Distro Clem.

3.1 stable has been built. It's being tested right now...

It's basically the same as BETA 021 with the new Envy package. If you don't have an nVidia card or if your 3d settings are fine you can consider BETA 021 stable. No need for you to wait and download the final release.

The stable release should be out early this week.

Hi All,

When will Celena go Gold?

Before I do the install, I'd like to have the final version available.

I run Linux, and Linux things only.

@all i know this isn't the right place ^^

@Shyster

1) Open console
2) Type: "cd /etc/X11"
3) Type: "sudo gedit xorg.conf"
4) Under "Section "Screen"" there is "SubSection "Display""
__________________________________________________________
before:
SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1280x1024" "1280x960" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
EndSubSection
-----------------------------------------------------------------
after:
SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1600x1200" "1280x1024" "1280x960" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
EndSubSection
___________________________________________________________

you edit your screen resolution into all of these lines.

Make a copie form your orginal xorg.conf and save it.

5) restart Xorg

Congratulations to Clem and the Mint team.
I have installed and have been running CELENA beta 021. I can only say that I am impressed. No bugs! Steady and faster than Cassandra.
The artwork is fantastic, too.
Good work boys!
