Windows (Super) Key for start menu?

Post by jbaerbock »

I'd like to map my windows (super) key to open the start Menu like it would normally do in windows. Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

it works here, just go to System->Preferances->Keyboard Shortcuts
then look for the "Show Panel Menu" launcher and set it to your winkey, i set it to that coz that key has no other use for me :)
it should say Super L or Super R depending on whether you press left or right.

I just tried this, but the Show Panel Menu is a very nested version of the big main menu that you get when you click "menu" in the lower left corner of the screen. I prefer the big main menu. Is there any way to get this to pop up when pressing the Windows key? Seems only logical that it should do that.

right click Menu -> Preferences -> Keyboard shortcut:

the default is "<Control>Super_L" and it work! :D
