You really won't need to worry about ANY viruses anytime soon in Linux, and yes, it's safe. I installed it, but I didn't like it too much because it was slightly glitchy. Other than that it was alright, but if you want to use a dock Avant is pretty stable (although it might not have as many options).

I've been using Cairo Dock for a long time now, and have upgraded it a few times. What I really like about it is you can customize it to look any way you like, as I did here. I highly recommend it.
