My 17" PackardBell Easynote 3340 runs Cassandra out of the box, except for the Realtek 8180 wifi card (replaced with a 8€-on-ebay Atheros one, just fine) and for the hibernate feature. The Ati 200M Radeon Xpress video card partially supports 3d acceleration, so I never got Beryl (or similar) working, but I can live without that.
My 12" CDC 6034DL (a.k.a. Uniwill X20II) laptop runs Celena perfectly out of the box (and Beryl too); I'm just not sure if hibernation works.
In both cases I never tested the winmodem, but should work on the second one.

All works properly on my sony vaio pcg-z1sp with Elyssa except the suspend. After suspend is not possible wake up the notebook. Only hard reset helps. As Application Google Earth crash.

Advent 9117 17in Intel Core 2 Duo 1.46Ghz 1.5GB RAM 120GB HD wifi & SD Card reader
Can be bought here : http://www.pcworld.co.uk
Linux Mint 4.0 Daryna

Wifi works as does the SD card reader.

EDIT:

I also forgot to mention that the Advent 7203 15.4in Laptop from the same supplier also works perfectly with Linux Mint 4.0 Daryna.

EDIT2: Mint 5 works perfectly on both machines and with Compiz too !!

I have a 20in iMac (Intel Core 2 Duo model) on which I run OS X and Linux Mint, and many other Linux Distro's !

The best way of doing this is to purchase Parallels, http://www.parallels.com/ ... then you can run Linux or Windows in a VirtualMachine under OS X.
You can also run the VirtualMachine full screen if you want.

Linux runs just fine by the way !

Hope this helps.

Also, this thread should be edited so on the first post, it lists all the working ones, issues included.

HP dv6000 doing great with Elyssa. Even the wireless and the pre-installed webcam worked right out of the box. There was a small problem with the graphics, but this was easily solved in Envy.

HP Pavilion DV5046EA.
Apart for a couple of the function keys everything works out of the box in Daryna.
Just loaded Elyssa again everything appears to function as it should.

HP 530
Celeron M530 1,73Ghz
512MB DDR2 PC667
Broadcom WiFi (*Edit by Form Moderator, Keep it clean Please) Thanks , Jay514

Daryna and Elyssa both work. Elyssa has problems with WiFi driver though, I got tired of workarounds so I went back to Daryna. Works just perfect. <3 this OS

Every FSC laptop I've tried so far (about 30 models! - Yes I sell computers! )has worked flawlessly with Mint!
On the other hand NO HP has worked without a LOT of pain!

Huh? I've had Mint 3.0 on an HP nx7300, and the only issue was with wireless, which took 5 minutes to remedy. On my current HP dv6775, I have Mint 5 and everything worked right out of the box, including wireless - even the pre-installed webcam was flawless. The dv6775 also has 3 GB of RAM and an nVidia GeForce 8400M GS graphics card. I don't know what models were giving you "a lot of pain", but my own experience with HP has been nothing but positive.

Good for you! :D
I was just giving my 2 cents... :)
But the FSC 'puters worked without ANY issues!

And I was just correcting the claim that "NO HP has worked without a LOT of pain". This is simply not true, as evidenced elsewhere in this thread. Most HPs require minor adjustments after installing Mint, like most other machines, and some HP models require absolutely no adjustments at all after installing Mint. I think it's important people have the right information in front of them, that's all.
