Mint 2.2 - Gnome Menu won't close, standby won't stop.

The behavior of the menu is default.
As for the screensaver I've just moved over to Cassandra and don't have Bianca at all right now, but I think it's the same
Screensaver>Power Management Preferences>Put display to sleep after....minutes
and there's a slide adjustment

the short answer is right click menu--> preferences, un-tick pin menu.

About the menu - have you ever had a menu that closes before you have time to get the mouse on the right item? I have - and it's bloody annoying
As for Boo's answer - he probably posted before you edited...
