Mint 4.0 Gnome
My screen resolution does not set to 1024 x 768.
I cannot set this resolution from the 1280 x 1024 at 60 Hz from Control Panel-->Screen Resolution. It allows the selection but the keeps Previous etc. screen continue at the 1280 x 1024.
What file do I set to set and keep the resolution to 1024 x 768?
It set correctly ONCE but thereafter it acts per the above description.

Re: Resolution
Branta,
The way I would do it is; open /etc/X11/xorg.conf for editing. Look in that file for the available screen resolutions. Take all the ones you don't want and put them on a separate line that is commented out. Example:
# 1024x768 1650x1050 ..... etc.
You should have only the one you want now in the original line.
Save the file and reboot or restart x and you should be there... hopefully.

SOLVED: Resolution
Fred,
Thank you for your answer...and yes, I am really emabarrassed!
However, I did look at xorg.conf and there were no lines with the resolutions like your earlier answer suggested.
I finally found the gui in:
System Settings-->peripherals-->Monitor & Display
That fixed it.
I looked and looked for it before the query on this forum.
