Re: help a newb
This networking stuff has always been a mystery to me.
Whenever I think I have it figured out ... it stops working
On my home network I have several systems .. 12 at the moment.
Two running MInt, one running Mepis 6.5, one MAC, one FreeNAS server and the others are win xp.
Also 2 laptops windows XP and my new Eee PC running Xandros.
One cool thing about FreeNAS is that all systems can connect read and write from it ... it just works.
Some windows systems do not allow the others access (even windows systems) but they are able the go to the others systems.
It's with these that I have trouble in windows, mac or linux.
I have no issues connecting to the windows systems that are not effected by this issue.
Mac, MInt and Mepis read and write fine.
The work around I use on the troubled few is to use the freenas sever and transfer though that or to a system that doesn't have the issue and transfer through it.
