Sound at 100% on startup - Elyssa

Post by ruimsimao »

I have a problem with the sound controler in my Elyssa. On every system startup it sets the volume to 100% no matter in what position i've left it in. Does anyone know why and what can i do to fix it??

Thanks

Does it remain on 100% or can you lower it?

I can lower it, but at the next start-up it's goes right back to 100%.

I have seen a solution for this - but where?
I should have asked before but what hardware do you have?
run lspci and post the result here (remember right click to copy in a terminal) or simpler do

Code: Select all

lspci | tee lspci.txt

Intel sound
If this is a laptop try to edit the "/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base" file adding at the end

Code: Select all

options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=toshiba
And of course you change toshiba to whatever you have - works for the more popular brands

Code: Select all

gksu gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base

Yes it's a Asus laptop, but this didn't work. I tried changing the index to "-2" because that's the value in the other sound device options but it didn't work either.

Does anyone have any idea?

I don't know if it's related but the "fn+f4" that used to open the web-browser doesn't work in Elyssa......
