HOW TO: Get Digikam to import pictures in Mint Gnome

Post by 67GTA »

This is for anyone who prefers digikam over f-spot for digital picture work. Once you have digikam installed, go to Removable Drives and Media. Menu>Preferences>Removable Drives and Media. In the Digital Camera section, check the box for "Import Digital Photographs When Connected", and copy/paste this in the command box

Code: Select all

digikam --detect-camera
Now when you connect your phone, digikam will start it's picture import wizard.

That post actually inspired me to write mine. I had always preferred digikam to f-spot, and had helped someone on the forums with getting digikam to auto detect cameras in Gnome recently. The answer was not as intuitive as f-spot auto detect, and I figured it out the hard way a couple of years ago.
