Super Large Font

Post by FXRS »

When logging in from the log in screen the name that is typed in, the font is like super huge as to where you can only see parts of the letter to the name. Also if you click on sessions the option window that comes up is like super huge and takes over the screen. the terminal window which is also goofy up by the X out and min/max windows toggles are. The blue edging is really wide.

The rest of the system seems fine.

Are you having problems after you logged in as well?
If your problems are before X has started it seems that the resolution is too low
Edit /boot/grub/menu.lst
but make a copy in grub first
(both actions need sudo)
In menu.lst there is a line like this
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.22-14-generic root=/dev/sda7 ro quiet splash
Of course you must change sda7 to whatever you have
change it to
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.22-14-generic root=/dev/sda7 ro quiet splash vga=791
Of course you must change sda7 to whatever you have
This will give you 1024x768
And this is provided your desktop looks normal (x has started)

Everything looks normal at the boot screen except for when she types in her name or clicks on like sessions then it gets huge. The desktop and everything else seems to fine.

If it's only at the boot screen there is a file in etc to change, but I can't remember which one now and the search in the forum does not allow for a search on boot and etc which would give it....
