If you click the Hibernate button - what happens?
It does not shut down by any chance?
Somehow something must have been mixed up...

This is not a big to EEEpc, it is an upstream but, that carried over from Ubuntu, it is the shutdown process itself that has an issue. I had the same problem and Husse posted a fix HERE, I used the /etc/init.d/alsa-utils file to put the line, but it works, no more hang on shutdown.
