Re: 17.3 live boot fail on older netbook

Many thanks to you both. The upgrade solution works, the compatibility mode solution reported a failure to start the X server and offered diagnosis (which I didn't follow through with as I'd already managed an install and upgrade)

17.3 live boot fail on older netbook

Hi all I find I can't install 17.3 (xfce) on my HP Compaq Mini 700 netbook. 17 live boot works fine but 17.3 (and current Xubuntu) gives a black screen instead of the mint logo just after the timeout. I've tried several downloads, usb sticks, a dvd (and xubuntu) and it's the same result. This older ...

Re: atomatic login

Hello folks. Yeah, I was looking for autologin too - hoping that it was missed by accident and will be in the LXDE final... :?:
For me it's a big enough omission to push me back to Lubuntu, despite Mint LXDE being very very nice indeed...

Re: Thunderbird 3 deb - anyone seen one?

Hello all I'm looking for a .deb or a stable release PPA too. I've been asking around on the ubuntu forums but I don't think there's anything yet. I remember once mint forum chap Merlwiz kindly put together a .deb for a Sunbird release - Merlwiz, if you're there, any chance you could consider TB3? W...

Sunbird 0.9 - can anyone make a .deb?

Hello folks

I've been using the mint-packaged Sunbird 0.8 in Ubuntu and Mint for a while. Now, with 0.9 just released, could some kind and clever person out there put together a .deb for this please? Would be very grateful :D

Ah, false alarm. I'd messed up the bar's icon settings  shows my inexperience with Fluxbox!

Re: Linux Mint 5 Elyssa Fluxbox Community Edition RC1

Hello folks Am delighted to stumble across this RC - am tempted to buy myself a really really old laptop just to feel smug using it... Great work Two little points from first use... 1) Minimised apps sometimes don't appear in the lower bar, effectively disappearing. I can get them back with Alt-Tab ...

That's right, the automatic update manager has not been enabled on boot in Celena. The thinking is that this will help stop people damaging their systems by installing core updates without really knowing the consequences. It's been a bit of a debate, but that's where we are now. I'm in favour. Of co...

dvd for me please. i live in the desert in sudan and apt is no more than a dream... a dvd edition would make mint self-sufficient for those without a decent connection, especially in the underdeveloped world.
