July 18th, 2010 at 5:23 pm
Downloading through torrent… Speedy, easy on resources, LTS, mono free (?)… What’s more to ask, looks like we have a winner here
July 18th, 2010 at 6:35 pm
it is a winner but with 192 ram if you have no video ram you need to make your page file 98
July 18th, 2010 at 6:35 pm
best for low ram low video computers and does more then gnome in some ways
July 18th, 2010 at 7:12 pm
I hate to be a spoiler but my firefox freezes at random times for no reason. This does not happen on the GNOME version.
July 18th, 2010 at 8:46 pm
Thank you for the release!
When is the release for Linux Mint KDE? I prefer KDE.

July 19th, 2010 at 1:57 am
Thanks for the hard work! My Pentium II IBM 600E runs pretty fast (that sounds like a joke for a Pentium II machine, but it is good for me for basic computing needs). Keep up the good work!

Thank you Clem
July 19th, 2010 at 3:24 am
How easy is it to run this just in Ram?
July 19th, 2010 at 3:38 am
Nice, but I like the Mint Menu too much to use it instead of gnome.
July 19th, 2010 at 4:41 am
Is there a problem with installing to a flash drive with unetbootin 471? I have tried installing the iso to 2 different flash drives now, and after the initial menu and the 5 dots that “cycle” it seems to do nothing for some minutes (when the cycling dots disappear). This is on a Fujitsu Lifebook P5020 with 1 GB RAM. It has booted dozens of different Linux distros from USB flash drives. The downloaded ISO file works fine with VirtualBox.
TIA,
RO

Why would you want to install Gnome on LXDE-system?
Use the original, best-supported Mint/Gnome that was released 6 weeks or so ago. There you have Gnome in the best Mint-quality and best integration.

Linux Mint 9 Shutdown issue
Does anybody know why my GX100 won’t shut down completely. This is happening with this new LXDE as well as the original Gnome. It happens on several of the other new distros also (Kahel for one). In this LM-9-LXDE recent case, I can get the CD to boot into Live-Mode, where I poke around just a little. Then when I try to shut down, it works on it a little, but then just stops, with everything still powered-up, and 2 lights on the keyboard flashing, but unresponsive to any level of keyboard-pounding. The same thing happened with LM-9-Gnome, even after I installed it to hard-drive.
Thanks – Kurt

“Patience is the mother of all virtues”.
GLAD!
Instead of quickly releasing some buggy distro, the team prefer to improve and to solve several issues *before* launching, AGAIN, an remarkable distribution!
It was worth waiting. Definitely.
Keep up the good work, guys!

Is GMA500 supported natively or is there a long work around like there is on ubuntu?
July 21st, 2010 at 6:17 am
Great look and package – But I am having problems keeping my wireless connection going at home and work, something that does not happen with other LXDE distributions. The reason I would like this to work for me is because I am very impressed with the packages available in the repos and the community support, but if wireless is unreliable I will have to move back to the “radically simple” distro.

I must be getting behind on my Linux news, but what is LXDE. I’ll have to do some research into that. Is it a fork of XFCE?

At last a LXDE LTS distro. The beauty of it is it is Mint, which is becoming my favorite distro with each passing day. This is a winner in my eyes. It’s fast, easy to use, and full of features. I love it!
Look for a contribution as soon as I get my Social Security money around the end of the month. I will support Mint 9 LXDE with contributions as I can afford it to show my appreciation and gratitude.

Great Work Kendall
Congratulations!
Keep up the good work
Also wishing lucky for “Peppermint Linux”
Now…
What is up? Why?
Can anyone explain it to me?
Linux Mint 9 Gnome “Isadora” 32bit (laptop)
The web browser firefox when updated to a new version,
it changes my startup page (front page) and automatically
the browser goes to mozilla.org web site and make that website
as my default start page. I think Mozilla could not do
that without my permission. Intrusion, may i say that? Or
something wrong with the Mint Firefox 32bit re-branded?
This event has already happened twice.
Amd64 computer
For my Gnome 9 “Isadora” – x64 bit Gnome and KDE
firefox doesn’t change my startup Mint page (front page).
I did not check yet whether it happens with Lxde 9 Edition.
32bit because the other lap is with my sister. Anyone can check
it out please?
32bit LM 9 “Isadora”
To fix it: – firefox > edit > preferences > general > modify the
front page to (wwww.linuxmint.com/start/isadora)

My old Dell Inspiron 8000 with 500Mb RAM and Pentium III CPU has never run as well or looked as good as with Linux Mint 9 LXDE. I downloaded the correct Nvidia driver and the video performance is superb with the built-in VLC software.
I was using Puppy 5.01, which is an amazing distro, but Mint LXDE is sheer luxury and pretty much as fast!
A great achievement by the Linux Mint 9 LXDE team!

This is by far the best Linux distro I have used. I hate unnecessary eye-candy; and LXDE is prefect for my taste. Mint LXDE is probably the best looking LXDE distro there is right now. I use a pretty beefy machine, but I still like a very lightweight distro like Mint LXDE.
Great work guys! Keep it up!
